How the results are calculated
We read each festival’s 2027 line-up from its own website: the line-up page, its poster, or its announcement posts. Every act on the bill counts as one booking.
Headline bands score points for each booking: billing points times a festival size multiplier. A band’s score adds up all its bookings.
| Billing on the line-up | Points |
|---|---|
| Top line: the names printed largest, or named as headliners | 10 |
| Second line | 5 |
| Rest of the main stage, and the top act on other stages | 3 |
| Everyone else | 1 |
| Festival lists names without billing | 2 |
| Festival size | Multiplier |
|---|---|
| 50,000 or more | ×3 |
| 10,000 to 50,000 | ×2 |
| Under 10,000 | ×1 |
So a headline slot at a festival of 50,000 or more is worth 30 points, and a second-stage slot at a small festival is worth 1. Some festivals print two or three names a day on their top line, and each of those counts as a headline slot. Where a festival does not publish its capacity, the size band is our estimate.
Non-headline acts are ranked only by the number of festivals they are booked for. Acts sharing a total share a place (marked =).
Tribute acts are left out. A band booked twice at one festival counts once. Line-ups are checked every month while 2027 announcements come in, so the table will move.
