About
Cambridge Folk Festival was first held in 1965 at Cherry Hinton Hall, a park on the south-east side of the city, and has stayed there since. It was founded by Ken Woollard, a local firefighter, and Paul Simon played the first one.
The festival has always taken a broad view of folk: traditional and contemporary folk, Americana, blues, world music and singer-songwriters. The site is compact and well run, with a strong family feel and an audience that knows its music.
