About

Boardmasters grew out of a surf contest first held in Newquay in 1981. Today the music happens on the clifftop at Watergate Bay, while the surf and skate events run on Fistral Beach in town.

The bill is pop, rap, dance and indie for a young, largely student-age crowd, with the Atlantic behind the main stage. It runs over several days in early August, and the campsite is as much of a draw as the stages.
