It’s not just an immense line up full of the best in rock and metal music that entices the DL family back year after year.
First and foremost: Prepare your fancy dress! The theme for this year’s Friday fancy dress is… WRESTLING. We want to see your most creative, hilarious and original takes on the theme.
While you’ve got your fancy dress on, why not wander over to the WWE NXT Stage? This year there will be even more high-flying kicks, shocking movements and electrifying entertainment.
Across the weekend, join us at the Download Village for some unbeatable fun. The Side Splitter Stage will host huge shows featuring standups, circus performers and musical comedy from Andrew O’Neil, Craig Campbell, Andrew Maxwell and many more.
Firestone’s Music Tour also returns to the festival, giving bands an opportunity to perform a more intimate gig at the festival. The close atmosphere will allow you to interact directly with these emerging musicians. This year Four Year Strong, Red Sun Rising, The One Hundred, Alestorm, The King Blues and Red Fang will be delivering unique, stripped back performances.
Fancy topping up your ink collection? Download’s resident tattooist, Old Sarum are back once again and ready to ink for the masses if you’re after a more permanent memento of the weekend.
Manage to catch the totally exhilarating Original Wall of Death last year? They’re back with a high-octane return that will leave you totally awe struck.
We know Download can be thirsty work, and that’s why Dogtooth lager will once again be stocked at bars across the site. Created in homage to the beloved Download Dog, it would be wrong not to raise a glass or two in honour. Bulleit Whiskey will be popping up all over Download this year, rocking mixed drinks across every bar and incredible cocktails in the Guest Area!
This year also see’s the introduction of our brand new wooded area in the Village, Metal Den, with its very own bar, food, logs and picnic benches to sit on, it’s the perfect place to grab a bite to eat in between sets.
Those ready to party into the early hours can hit up the infamous Download Club Nights at The Doghouse. This year will see a whole host of ‘versus’ sets from the UK’s best alt-nights including: UPRAWR vs Suicide Girls Ballroom Blitz, Rise vs Rawkus, Voodoo Rock London vs Assault, Project Mayhem vs Facedown, Ultimate Power vs Magic Nostalgic as well as the Boardie takeover.
Fire breathers, contortion acts and burlesque dancers will delight and intrigue you as part of Area 51’s infamous pop-up. While Battle Heritage will fight it out for your pleasure in the Main Arena, fresh from their successes in the World Full Contact Medieval Fighting Championships.
Over at the Zippo Encore area, you’ll be able to test your luck and take part in games with in immense prizes, such as the opportunity to watch some of the world’s biggest band’s from side of stage along with Zippo’s classic lighters.
Also in the village this year is the new Circus of Horrors touring show, featuring an amazing amalgamation of bizarre, brave and beautiful acts at the Dog House.
If you want to wind down after a busy day, you can also kick back at the Village Cinema before heading back to get some well earned ZZZs.
