Latest Festival Flyer update from Chagstock:

And another new act, the Luke Jackson Trio are confirmed to join the Chagstock 2019 line up.

Luke Jackson is an un-pidgeonhole-able (is that a word?) singer songwriter who has travelled a fair few thousand miles around the British Isles, initially with his dad Paul into pubs and bars, well run house concerts and more recently into folk & blues clubs, venues and festivals.
Luke’s songwriting draws on his experiences, family life, poignant stories he’s been told and fortunately, they’e all written in English as in his own words, he’s dreadful at languages!
His performance style and songwriting skills are constantly developing and improving as confirmed by him winning the Male Artist Of The Year from Fatea in 2014 and 2016 and being nominated in 2013 for the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Best Emerging Talent and Young Folk Categories.

And now a new face to Chagstock, we have confirmed Will Varley for the line up.

The heady sense of the unfamiliar suffuses Will Varley's music – somehow so rooted in the ancient folk traditions we know intimately yet with a voice and lyricism that resonates unlike anyone before him. Perhaps it's the collision of his relative youth and wisdom. Or perhaps it's the times, and how Will is able to capture them in his soul-searching and musings.
From rambling along England's south coast playing shows along the way to supporting Billy Bragg, The Proclaimers and Frank Turner, Will's travels have led him to places far from his home in Kent, the Garden of England.
With 5 studios album under his belt, and not forgetting his breathtaking Live at Shepherd’s Bush Empire album recorded in February for his album launch, Will Varley is in the strongest position he’s ever been.

Chagstock news : Another one for the line up! After meeting Katy in May and seeing her perform BB…

Latest Festival Flyer update from Chagstock:

Another one for the line up! After meeting Katy in May and seeing her perform BBC Radio 2's Paul Sexton wrote…

Katy Hurt has lived a whole lot of country for an artist who's yet to hit 20. American culture is stamped on her singer-songwriter soul, from a childhood partly spent living there with her family. Then she returned to the UK to put her love of Nashville sounds and styles to very good use. Hence the rapid emergence of one of the most exciting prospects on the burgeoning British country scene. Hurt's confident, distinctive EP Pieces Of Me is the latest evidence of a career that's already produced an iTunes UK Country No. 1 in last year's 'Love You More,' among other successes. Next will come a debut album, fuelled by her already considerable experience as a songwriter on both sides of the Atlantic, and as a vivacious and magnetic performer.

If all of this sounds like a young woman on a mission, believe it, because Katy has been working to get here for as long as she can remember. “When I was a baby, my dad called me the child that never slept,” she recalls with a smile. “He found the only thing that worked was if he put Jim Reeves and Patsy Cline records on. I would go to sleep. But then it got to the point where I knew all the words, so I wouldn't go to sleep because I was too busy singing along.”

Latest Festival Flyer update from Chagstock:

We have also confirmed Coco & the Butterfields as a new act to Chagstock for 2019.

If anyone ever doubted the ability of music to re-route people’s lives, a page from the formative days of CoCo and the Butterfields will soon turn that around.

It’s 2012 in the historic city of Canterbury, where Songwriter Tom Twyman has a plane ticket in his hand, for the journey to a new life he’s mapped out for himself in Australia. Singer and multi-instrumentalist Dulcima Showan, meanwhile, has just left sixth form and is all set for art school in Dublin. Neither of them ever makes it though, because by now they’re in the early stages of a band that has very different plans for them.

The decision to stay was difficult at the time and yet so simple in hindsight, it saw the pair lead CoCo and the Butterfields on a steady and unmistakable upward incline, developing an enviable reputation for their exhilarating live shows as their inclusive, acoustic-based sound has ripened to maturity. During the ride, they’ve played to enthusiastic audiences all over the UK and Europe, selling out thousand capacity venues, touring the island’s o2 Academy’s and appearing at some of the world’s most prestigious music festivals such as Glastonbury, Isle of Wight and Bestival! On top of this, the band have played numerous support shows for the likes of Bastille, King Charles, Scouting for Girls and Wheatus to name a few.
