In depth piece about the very real challenges of the Live Music and Festival industries. I'm fairly sure we are the smallest festival on the AIF roster and it's been interesting / distressing to hear of the difficulties others have been facing.
Of note is that final paragraph stating: "AIF’s members generate an estimated £386m for the UK economy each year, with almost 10% of that spend going to businesses based around each festival’s site."
For us it's very different. Approx 85% of the income we generate for the Wakefield economy each year goes to businesses in the city. Our cut is very small, but it shows the importance and power of live events.
Independent festivals group says 98% of its members are uninsured for outbreak-related cancellations
