Fresh meat!
Gurriers turned out to be one of theose bands we nearly missed but were over the moon that we didn’t at 2000Trees 2023.
When you walk into a tent and are transfixed from the first moment to the end of the closing number, you suddenly remember why you love festivals…the heat of the chase and the discovery of the next big thing.
Ove the past few years we have been championing Nova Twins, and in the past six months our attention has been on VLURE, SNAYX, and HotWax.
All of these bands have been going from strength to strength, and we think that VLURE in particular have the potential to be bigger than The Chemical Brothers….
And now here come Gurriers... the word (we think) means something like ‘violent young men‘.
And yes, these guys have a violently passionate streak running through their veins…but it’s an artistically driven one, and it makes us think of all the best Fontaines DC songs rolled into one enormous pile of steaming energy.
Not only that – but Dan Hoff can SING! So many loud bands hide behind a shout…but as you can tell from this TagMix desk audio feed, here’s a guy with a proper set of lungs that let him express the sentiment behind his songs with true Irish authenticity.
