Beautiful line-up for Beautiful Days 2017

The best festival listings calendar, previews, reviews, and photos

Huge interest in the news caused the Beautiful Days festival website to go briefly offline in advance of the line-up news going live, and the Facebook message boards were alive with speculation.

The festival poster finally appeared around noon.

The bill includes Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott, Levellers (unsurprisingly…it is there party), Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls, The Sisters of Mercy, Alison Moyet, Public Service Broadcasting and The Waterboys.

Other acts appearing are Therapy? Acoustic, Stiff Little Fingers, Turin Brakes, Lightning Seeds, Hayseed Dixie, and Eliza Carthy & the Wayward Band.

The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club will be in full effect as well as King Kong Company, The Circus of Horrors and loads more.

Sunday’s fancy dress theme is ‘rock the boat’…and this year those who dress to impress will be gathering near the kids area before making a short parade to the traditional site of the judging over at the bandstand.

The person (or small team) with the best costume will, as ever, win tickets to the next year’s event.

And speaking of the bandstand, festival goers should never ignore the talented acts who always make this a must-see corner of the festival.

This year the festival has made an eary confirmation of some of the names, and these include Andy Twyman, Doozer McDooze, Jake Martin, Folk the System , Small & Gold, Peter Bruntnell, Matilda’s Scoundrels, The Dambuskers, The Bar Steward Sons of Val Doonican, and The Fox and the Pirate.

As ever, John Robb will be hosting Q&A sessions with main stage artists and there will be regular open mic slots – although musicians are advised to book early as these are always hugely popular.
