The Galway Street Club – up on the big stage and owning it…

Festivals and gigs. A listings calendar, plus previews, news, reviews, and photos

It’s the sign of a great headline band when, like Alabama 3 tonight, they book a support who have the potential to knock them off their throne.

And The Galway Street Club were just that support at Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

From the balcony you could literally smell the patchouli oil as this miscreant bunch of itinerant hippies nailed song after song, winning new fans with every track.

Formed almost as a joke by a bunch of buskers, the result of this coming together of talent is a joyous and raucous cacophony of exhuberance – a pleasure for the ears and a treat for the eyes.

If your festival line-up needs a lift and you have the space for 11 talented musicians take our word for it – you won’t be disappointed, and neither will your crowd.
