Bloodstock

See which four names have recently been added to Bloodstock 2019

As the festive season descends upon us, BLOODSTOCK come bearing gifts – four more bands for 2019!

Saturday’s special guest on the Ronnie James Dio main stage will be none other than thrash titans, ANTHRAX. The band are set to start work on a new studio album in 2019, so maybe we’ll get to hear something new at BOA19!  In the meantime, check out a live version of their classic ‘Madhouse’, taken from their recent live DVD release, ‘Kings Among Scotland’

In a UK exclusive, Norwegian black metal legends DIMMU BORGIR join the bill as BLOODSTOCK’s special guests on Sunday.  After an eight year gap, the group released their tenth studio album, ‘Eonian’ via Nuclear Blast in May.  Investigate the video for ‘Council Of Wolves And Snakes’ from that opus

Adding to the main stage fun on Saturday, are Australian deathcore beasts THY ART IS MURDER.  While the band have four albums, including their most recent, ‘Dear Desolation’ to familiarise yourself with, they tantalisingly just dropped a brand new track on Black Friday.  Listen to ‘Death Perception’

Homegrown British act TESSERACT bring their blend of djent and progressive metal to Catton Park on Friday.  Most recently, the band have been traversing Europe with touring buddies Between The Buried And Me.  Watch the video for ‘Juno’, from TESSERACT’s fourth studio album ‘Sonder’

These four bands join the previously announced Friday night headliner, SABATON, Sunday’s bill toppers SCORPIONS, together with CHILDREN OF BODOM, CODE ORANGE, SOILWORK, CRADLE OF FILTH, METAL CHURCH, SKELETONWITCH, DEATH ANGEL, DEE SNIDER, QUEENSRYCHE, ELUVEITIE, EVIL SCARECROW, ROSS THE BOSS, GRAND MAGUS, ROTTING CHRIST and HYPOCRISY on the Catton Park stages next August.  Stay tuned for more bands to be announced in the New Year!

Bloodstock 2018 Preview

It’s tough trying to explain why you should go to a festival that’s not happened yet – all you can go on is past experiences. If those are anything to go by, however, you should definitely go to Bloodstock 2018.

Some info

It doesn’t feel like one big advert

BOA will never match “Barclaycard presents BST Hyde Park” for sheer marketing audacity. A lot of festivals nowadays are propped up with sponsorship from a dozen or more brands, which is fine, we get it, but sometimes they seem so out of place that it sours the whole experience.

With BOA, everything makes sense and adds to the whole experience. Kraken flavoured ice cream? Obviously. Jagermeister tent. Obviously.

It makes for a more pleasant experience where the music is at the forefront of what the festival is about.

The music is awesome

It’s hard not to get buzzed about Priest, Gojira and Nightwish playing but you have an amazing undercard (like you always do here) that features Empreror,  Cannibal Corpse, At The Gates, Mr. Big, Suicidal Tendencies, Orphaned Land and so much more across the various stages.

The strength lies that when BOA finishes, you’re left wondering “how can the top this year, I mean, without repetition, how they going to produce quality” only for them to answer it, usually during the festival itself like when they announced Gojira last year for this year.

Obviously, with BOA, it’s not about the bands with millions of listens on Spotify, it’s about the underground bands, the new lot that come in via Metal to the Masses. Some gems have climbed their way to the main stage and some have done it within their actual set:

Oh yeah, it also starts Thursday… which is nice.
Bloodstock Lineup

The arena is a breath of fresh air

Even the most die hard DLF fan doesn’t wake up and go “can’t wait for that walk to the arena and the subsequent hikes between stages for the bands that I may possibly miss

With BOA, everything is the perfect distance from each other. Bars, food, camping, stages. It doesn’t feel cramped up and it’s not this massive expanse of land that you have to compensate for like at DLF, Reading or pretty much any other festival.

The only festival where a VIP upgrade is worth it

  • Metres between car, camp and arena
  • Look at the drinks below – they’re not even found their final form
  • Right next to press area so could see your idols
  • Awesome entertainment
  • Take a look at that drink list again

The atmosphere is friendly to the point where you question your own morals

In all our years of going, we’ve never seen any trouble. You don’t hear about any of the stuff you see or read about at other festivals.

People look out after each other. There’s zero discrimination. Everyone is there for a good time without ruining someone else’s time.

Importantly, it’s all anbout the music – a lot of festivals forget that.

Here’s what you need to know

Just visit http://www.bloodstock.uk.com/ for all your latest information. BOA tickets can be got from http://bloodstock.seetickets.com/ and VIP packages can be got from http://www.bloodstock.uk.com/pages/vip-camping

Just one week until BLOODSTOCK 2018!

There’s just 7 days left ‘til the loyal metal hordes descend on to Catton Park’s hallowed turf for the UK’s biggest metal weekender!  Both weekend and day tickets for BLOODSTOCK 2018 are selling very quickly, with weekend tickets very likely to sell out before festival weekend.  As they currently stand, day tickets look likely to still be available come festival weekend, but we highly recommend purchasing in advance online to avoid disappointment on the day.

Weekend tickets with camping are £145 (+ booking fee) and children’s weekend tickets only £35 (+ bkg fee).  Kids under 4 go free! Adult one day tickets are £65 (+ bkg fee) and child day tickets £20 (+ bkg fee), available at http://bloodstock.seetickets.com.  IF any weekend tickets remain available (a big IF), they will increase from £145 to £155 for adults and from £35 to £40 for children.  Adult Day tickets increase from £65 to £70 on the gate and Child Day tickets will increase from £20 to £25.

Don’t forget you can pre-book a locker in the main arena with Recharged before you arrive! There are various types of lockers available from storage to charging to hair care!  Lockers are also available throughout the weekend, just wander over and see what suits your needs. To pre-book or for more info, visit http://rechargedmyphone.co.uk/product/bloodstock-festival-lockers-phone-charging/ .

Don’t have all your camping gear yet? Our campsite partner this year is Fat Frank’s Camping Store, so if you don’t want to tow it all with you, order online and collect it from Fat Frank’s stall in the Midgard campsite. They’ll even blow up your air bed while you wait for a couple of quid. See what’s available and/or place your order via their ‘click & collect’ service here – http://fatfrankscampingshop.com/.  If you arrive and discover you’ve forgotten something essential, Fat Frank’s will do their best to help!

There’s a wide range of food on offer at BLOODSTOCK, so whether you’re carnivore, vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free, you’re sure to find something that takes your fancy. This year you could be tucking into all sorts of burgers, pizza, tacos, jacket potatoes, Belgian waffles, smoked meats, chicken, ostrich (get the Jack Daniels onions to go with…), pie & mash (mushy peas optional), giant Yorkshire puds, gourmet ravioli, burritos, quesadillas, chips (including curly and sweet potato fries), mac n’ cheese (even in a wrap! The ultimate hangover carb-fest), cakes, nachos, hot dogs, paella, not to mention bunnychow (steak or vegan chilli in a hollowed-out loaf, with a garlic bread dipper).  Wash it all down with Motley Brew’s teas, a milkshake from Shaken Udder, all types of coffee, a hot choc with all the trimmings (see the Waffle folks), or a chilled pint from Lemmy’s Bar! There’s also free drinking water at designated water points in the campsites and main arena. Pick up other essentials at the on site 24-hr supermarket. You can even get a massage to go with your cuppa at Theatre of Pain, if you’ve overdone the headbanging. Learn more at: http://www.bloodstock.uk.com/events/boa-2018/traders.

If cocktails are your thing, you’ll not want to miss CAPTAIN MORGAN’s pirate ship bar, new this year!  Yo ho ho, and a bottle of rum. ALESTORM will take two!!

When you’re not watching bands, check out the BLOODSTOCK marketplace, where traders will be offering everything from band merch, alternative clothing (with some stalls offering up to size 5XL), drinking horns, leatherwear, shisha, flags, patches, badges, army surplus gear, hats, shoes, homeware, CDs, vinyl, posters, jewellery, fancy dress, face painting, and even some Norse-God inspired leisure wear!  Plus BLOODSTOCK’s own merch stall!  Don’t forget to enter our official charity partner, Teenage Cancer Trust’s raffle too.

If you’re driving to the festival and have a space in your car, or are seeking to hitch a ride from your area, post your trip on GoCarShare’s website to match with a friendly metaller and help each other get to BLOODSTOCK!  You’ll even be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets to 2019’s event just by participating in the GoCarShare scheme.  Full details over at http://gocarshare.com/festival/bloodstock.

For those super early planners, please note that 2019 Early Bird tickets will be available at the box office on site at the very cheapest price (ie: with no online booking fee)!

10 Bands we want to see at Bloodstock 2019

We know there’s no such thing as too much metal but as Skindred proved beyond any reasonable doubt, a shot of vodka is needed in a session on the beer. if you don’t get what we mean by that crap analogy, we mean some other heavier music might be the injection that BOA wants (not that it needs it of course)

The list below could have easily been much much more but our OCD says 10 sounds a decent amount.

Code Orange

Dead Cross

The Bronx

Zeal and Ardour

Cancer Bats

The Fever 333

Rolo Tomassi

Anti Flag

Every Time I Die

Scars on Broadway

BLOODSTOCK announce more RAM Gallery exhibitors, including GOJIRA’s Mario Duplantier

BLOODSTOCK is excited to announce further details of 2018’s onsite RAM Gallery, one of the more unique elements that sets BLOODSTOCK apart from other festivals.  Festival founder and globally renowned artist, Paul Raymond Gregory created the onsite RAM Gallery in 2014 and each year the purpose-built structure showcases not only some of Paul’s work, but several other BLOODSTOCK-related rock and metal-friendly artists and creatives.

As previously announced, in 2018 the festival has also chosen to honour Friday night’s headliners, JUDAS PRIEST with a dedicated wall in the gallery, featuring some of the band’s album artwork and two incredible new creations by RAM Gallery luthier-in-residence, Cynosure, the ‘British Steel’ guitar and the ‘Angel V’ guitar.  Cynosure has also crafted a NIGHTWISH-inspired creation and a fourth, in honour of French metal icons, GOJIRA, who headline the festival on Sunday and Saturday respectively, plus two Molly Hatchet-inspired guitars to celebrate the band’s 40th Anniversary.  Paul Gregory has a longtime relationship with Molly Hatchet, having painted numerous album sleeves over the years for the Florida rock icons. You’ll be able to see all twelve of Cynosure’s RAM Gallery-commissioned guitars on site this year.  Don’t miss this incredible collection!

Gojira drummer and artist, Mario Duplantier will be exhibiting some new art prints alongside the Gojira Cynosure creation.  Also showing work are two world renowned photographers, Paul Harries and Ester Segarra. Paul will be showing and selling copies of 9 prints, including shots of Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, Metallica’s James Hetfield and Robb Flynn of Machine Head.  Ester will be there presenting her hot-off-the-press new photographic book, ‘Ars Umbra’.

Other artists exhibiting album sleeve work are Mark Wilkinson, who also curated the Judas Priest wall in the gallery, as well as Steve ‘Krusher’ Joule, who will have two original prints on sale, plus four pieces of original artwork created for Ozzy Osbourne.  Christian Sloan Hall will be returning to show a new piece created especially for this year’s gallery, titled ‘The Return of the Old Gods’. The piece will have a limited edition run of just 40 prints available for purchase. Christian will also have prints of his ‘Motor Maiden’ artwork available.

Heathen Waxworks will also be there showcasing their exclusive ‘By The Fans, For The Fans’ Bloodstock candle.  Drop into the gallery first thing on Sunday morning as they’ll be selling their display of candles for you to take home.  Walk away with a more compact souvenir from the RAM Gallery, if a photographic or art print is out of your price range.

Lastly, but most definitely not least, Paul Raymond Gregory will be exhibiting original artwork from Molly Hatchet’s discography to celebrate their 40th Anniversary as a band and his 40th anniversary as an artist.  The Hatchet artwork will sit betwixt Cynosure’s two bespoke Hatchet-themed guitars. Paul will also have other prints available from album artwork throughout his career, including Saxon’s ‘Heavy Metal Thunder’ and Molly Hatchet’s ‘Devil’s Canyon’.  The art prints are also signed by Paul and Saxon frontman, Biff Byford and Paul and Molly Hatchet guitarist, Bobby Ingram respectively.

BLOODSTOCK weekend tickets with camping are still available at £145 (+ bkg fee), with children’s weekend tickets only £35 (+ bkg fee).  Kids under 4 years go free! Weekend tickets are selling faster than ever and like last year, are likely to sell out before the event, so don’t delay if you want to guarantee entry to the UK’s best metal weekender!  Adult one day tickets remain available priced £65 (+ bkg fee) and child day tickets at £20 (+ bkg fee) over at http://bloodstock.seetickets.com.

Thinking about how to get to BLOODSTOCK?  Official travel partner BIG GREEN COACH are more than happy to transport you and all your camping gear from 23 pick-up points all over the country to right inside the festival gates.  Check out the details at https://youtu.be/wqT7Rt2B60E.  Alternatively, if you’re driving to the festival and have a space in your car or are seeking to hitch a ride from your area, post your trip on GOCARSHARE’s website to match up with a friendly metaller and help each other travel to BLOODSTOCK!  You’ll even be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets to next year’s festival just by using the GOCARSHARE scheme.  Full details over at http://gocarshare.com/festival/bloodstock.

Just one month to go to BLOODSTOCK 2018

With just a month to go, BLOODSTOCK has chosen the last of its New Blood bands, added some more to the Jagermeister stage, revamped entertainment both after hours on the Sophie Lancaster & New Blood stages and in VIP too, bought a Hawaiian shirt ready for Cannibal Corpse, and is still working on a few final tricks!

A limited amount of adult day tickets remain available priced £65 (+ booking fee) and child day tickets at £20 (+ bkg fee) over at http://bloodstock.seetickets.com.  You can still also pick up four-day ‘weekend tickets with camping’ for £145 (+ bkg fee), with children’s weekend tickets only £35 (+ bkg fee).  Kids under 4 years go free! Weekend tickets are selling faster than ever and just like last year, are looking likely to sell out in advance, so don’t delay if you want to guarantee entry to the UK’s best metal weekender!

Without further ado, here’s the final batch of results from BLOODSTOCK’s top talent-seeking Metal 2 The Masses finals!  Added to the New Blood stage on Friday, are Northants victors GARSHKOTT (www.facebook.com/Garshkott), a five piece groove/speed metal band who love Pantera, Lamb of God, KsE, and a bit of Parkway Drive. Joining them are Lincs winners SERTRALINE (www.facebook.com/WeAreSertraline), who are all about  crunchy riffs, colossal grooves and huge on-stage energy, plus death metal Bristol champions BODY HARVEST (www.facebook.com/BodyHarvest.Official).  And finally for Friday’s New Blood, Birmingham’s top dogs TRIVAX (www.facebook.com/trivaxband) join the bill, an interesting black/death metal project originally formed in Iran, before frontman Shayan moved to Birmingham and updated the line-up in pursuit of non-restrictive live shows and the metal lifestyle we all love.

BLOODSTOCK was so impressed by the range of talent across this year’s competition, we can reveal two additional bands landing spots on Saturday’s New Blood line-up – grinding hardcore crusters THE BROOD (www.facebook.com/TheBroodUK) and progressive death metallers LUNA’S CALL (www.facebook.com/LunasCall).  We’re also pleased to welcome Hobgoblin’s video upload contest winners, EARTHBOUND (www.facebook.com/EarthboundMusicUK), a blend of melodic death riffs with big choruses and some progressive elements!

Two more bands join the New Blood family on Sunday.  Smashing first place in the Oxford final, IMMINENT ANNIHILATION (www.facebook.com/ImminentAnnihilation) promise to bring some face-melting riffs of the heavy and metal kind.  Last but certainly not least, kings of London’s competition DEAD BEFORE MOURNING (www.facebook.com/metalDBM) might just be your new favourite thing, if you’re a fan of Megadeth, Suicidal Tendencies, or Exodus.

There’s also more treats in store over on the Jagermeister stage!  Here’s five more bands to tempt you into an ice cold shot. Friday brings thrash beasts DAMAGED REICH (www.facebook.com/damaged.reich), down-tuned stoner/thrash sludgers CALLUS (www.facebook.com/Callus.band), and metal lovin’ headbangers UNTAMED (www.facebook.com/Untamedrock).  Breaking heads & ears on Saturday are death metallers CRANIAL SEPARATION (www.facebook.com/CranialSeparation).  Sunday welcomes Nottingham lads DEF GOLDBLUM (www.facebook.com/defgoldblum); three skinheads and one MC on a mission to save the soul of rap metal.

BLOODSTOCK also recently revealed their brand new entertainment plans for the Sophie Lancaster stage after the bands finish.  The big top tent will transition into ‘The Lock In’, a fully immersive club night presented by Old Blue Last Beer and hosted by comedian Andrew O’Neill.  Each night features a different DJ, celebrating a decade of metal! Thursday sees DJ Krusher unearthing tracks from the ‘70s, Friday rocks out to the ‘80s with The Dark Lord Alexander Milas, on Saturday, everyone’s favourite metal encyclopedia Dom Lawson brings you the best of the ‘90s, and Metal Hammer editor Merlin Alderslade rounds out Sunday’s fun with top tunes from the ‘00s.  Not only that, there’s world record attempts, games, prizes, a giant can sculpture(!) and plenty more. Nabbed yourself a VIP ticket? Head over to the BLOODSTOCK VIP Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BloodstockVIP to see full details of this year’s exclusive entertainment.  And if you want to have your say in which movies should be screened each night at the New Blood stage after the bands end, cast your vote at: https://www.facebook.com/events/215185702446013/.

BLOODSTOCK add four more for Halloween

Just in time for Halloween, BLOODSTOCK is excited to announce four more spooktacular bands and add the 2018 Rock Society tickets to the ticket store.

We’re excited to announce that WATAIN will bring their black metal ritual to headline Sunday’s Sophie Lancaster stage in a UK festival exclusive. Frontman Erik Danielsson tells us, “Our last performance at BLOODSTOCK in 2012 was also the final date on the ‘Lawless Darkness’ tour. The sun was setting while we played and the crowd was getting louder and wilder the darker it became. A very charged atmosphere. Eager now to return and see what the eventful years that have passed and the force accumulated since then has done to both us and the BLOODSTOCK crowd. Furthermore, England is, of course, sacred ground when it comes to Metal in general, so when performing there, the stakes are always high. May all those that doubt be impaled upon them.” Look out for the band’s long-awaited sixth studio album arriving on 5th January 2018!

German power metallers, ORDEN OGAN also land a Ronnie James Dio main stage slot on Saturday. The band released ‘Gunmen’, their fifth studio album, this summer via AFM Records. Check out the video for ‘Gunman’ here and get a taster of what’s in store for their set in 2018.

Atlanta aggrotech outfit, COMBICHRIST also join the main stage bill for an early slot on Friday. The band have been working on new music after the release of their eighth studio album, ‘This Is Where Death Begins’ which landed in 2016. Check out the new track, ‘Broken:United’ at the following link – https://Combichrist.lnk.to/BrokenUnited.

Also landing an early main stage slot on Friday are British death/grind four-piece, MEMORIAM. Combining ex-members of Bolt Thrower and Benediction, MEMORIAM’s pedigree is high. The band of scene veterans are hard at work on the follow up to their debut, ‘For The Fallen’ released via Nuclear Blast earlier this year. Check out ‘Reduced To Zero’ taken from that opus here.

BLOODSTOCK’s Rock Society tickets become available in the store on Halloween morning, 31st October at 9.00am! The ‘Rock Society’ is effectively the festival’s ‘Members Club’, offering not only a 10% discount on your weekend ticket (on top of the early bird discount if you purchase the Rock Society membership + ticket bundle option), but all sorts of other cool benefits like priority signing tent access, a Rock Society laminate, access to the VIP Serpents Lair bar, a tour of the backstage & production areas to see ‘behind the scenes’, the chance to meet with the festival organisers, a dedicated hangout area in the Rock Society tent on site, a Rock Society Facebook community where you can make friends and get to know your fellow RockSoc members and plenty more besides. Full details can be found at http://www.bloodstock.uk.com/pages/rock-society. Memberships are priced at £75, limited to 300 and sell out almost immediately, so don’t delay if you want to pick one up.

Also now in the store are tickets for our new VANAHEIM campervan field. Due to increasing demand each year, we’ve made some site adjustments to allow for more pitches. As such, the new VANAHEIM site is located across the road, directly adjacent to Serpents Lair VIP parking, allowing an increase in size to accommodate 240 campervans, as opposed to just 130. Campervan pitches always sold through very rapidly, so this allows for more of our metal brethren to join the campervan club. Tickets for campervan pitches will remain at this year’s price of £60.

With Friday night headliners, JUDAS PRIEST, Saturday night headliners, GOJIRA and Sunday headliners, NIGHTWISH already announced, along with EMPEROR, DEVILDRIVER and NAILS, 2018 is shaping up to be another stellar year for BLOODSTOCK.

BLOODSTOCK’s first wave of Serpents Lair VIP tickets are now SOLD OUT! The final allocation, the last batch of VIP deluxe packages and a limited amount of VIP upgrades priced at £145 (for those who’ve already bought ‘early bird’ tickets) will then become available on 16th December at 9am in the ticket store. Mark your calendars and don’t delay if you want to join us in 2018’s VIP Serpents Lair, as they’re moving faster than ever before!

Standard weekend tickets are currently available at ‘early bird’ prices (just £125 for four days of metal fun) so grab yours now at the ticket store if you want to save £20! In order to keep up with inflation and extra costs in 2018, standard weekend tickets with camping will increase from last year’s £139 to £145 once the ‘early bird’ allocation is gone.

BLOODSTOCK will take place at Catton Park, Derbyshire on 9th-12th August 2018. Get additional information over at www.bloodstock.uk.com.
