REDDIT FESTIVAL NEWS I’m so excited for my first camping festival! I want to go all out! What are the little extras that will make my campsite super awesome?
Festivals and gigs. A listings calendar, plus previews, news, reviews, and photos
Heres the spreadsheet template I use to organize large camps for camping festivals. I’ve linked you to the tab for suggested packing. You might take a peek at the contributions tab, too, for larger camp items rather than personals.
External battery packs (20k mah and up.) Bring one of those little plastic footstools to use next to your air mattress as nightstand in case of any water/beer/rain related mishaps. You dont want your prerolls or tabs getting fucked up. Get one of those USB rechargeable fans/lights from Amazon for 15 bucks. Sooooo worth it.
Bring a cuddle puddle! My friends and I grab a big inflatable pool, an electric blanket (we have a solar system to power it), blankets, pillows, plushies, and all the soft things. It’s really nice to come back to camp to everybody chilling and snuggling together in the warmth 🙂
Get yourself an air mattress (cheap, Walmart has them for $20 or 30, no matter how expensive it is it’ll break after a couple uses, but it’s so worth it for quality of sleep) and you can get a car cigarette outlet to three prong outlet adapter at like autozone or something like that to blow i up the mattress and also charge stuff/use heat tools if you or someone else in your group wants to style their hair, charge their phone and battery pack at the same time, or use a food appliance like a toaster.
Few tricks we always did that made our camp super cozy.
A cheap indoor/outdoor rug for the entrance to your tent. You want to take your shoes off OUTSIDE your tent to remove as much dirt coming inside the tent as possible. Plus the ability to go outside your tent, stand up and put your shoes on is great.
Speaking of shoes, we bought a “Moon Mat” that we put in the middle of our camp. Nice squishy flooring for bare feet to walk on. So nice.
A canopy is a must, but what is also great is getting some tapestries and grommeting them then zip tying them to your canopy to serve as little walls. When we stepped into our camp, it was 95% private. Once you are hanging things from your canopy, some LED Strings are wonderful. Outdoor, waterproof, and connect to batteries so that you can have some soft ambient light whenever you are hanging out there.
I bought a 10’x20′ canopy and an ezup 10x10x tent…take me about 10 mins to setup and takedown when leaving. I never flood, tent always stays dry and I have flooded at festies using many different combos of tents and canopies over the years. Also it looks cool and people will come check it out….then get strong magnets….you can use the magnets to attach large tapestries to the metal frame of the canopy this will save a ton of time and they don’t fly off even in strong wind.

Have fun! Be safe!
Lots of drugs
Flip flops for late night or early morning portapotty visits
Get a camping chair and paint your name on it like a director, saves people nicking it.
If you are buying a tent, a Coleman blackout Sundome or Skydome will make it easier to sleep after the sun is up.
If you have the space and budget, a memory foam mattress topper on top of that air mattress will make it feel like a real bed.
If the festival is in the woods, pretreat your clothes, shoes, and socks with permethrin to avoid ticks and mosquitoes.
And bring and wear sunscreen.
