There can be a lot of controversy around the Mercury Music prize – who is nominated, who wins etc – but a band like Lanterns On The Lake getting a nomination is such a great thing and a real positive of what the whole experience can and should bring.

They should've been at #LD2020 but they will certainly be at #LD2021 – if you've yet to check out #SpookTheHerd then you have a treat of an album awaiting you.

The Tyneside quintet all have day jobs and have often been overlooked but are now up for the UK’s most prestigious album award, writing for BT Sport, and might even get a tour bus
