It's been great today to see so many organisations dear to us receive the news that they've received vital Arts Council funding to support them through this Covid crisis.
But there will be plenty who didn't. Many weren't eligible (like us), many tried but were unsuccessful and many are likely struggling in the dark, unsure what to do. And then there's a whole world of freelancers, artists and the self employed who continue to fall through the cracks. The government announcements this evening do nothing to address those fears.
It's BRILLIANT that we know the whole sector isn't dead in the water and that some of our leading lights will be here for the foreseeable. It's just that there might be no-one left to perform / play / work there when we get to the other side.
1385 arts organisations are benefitting from a share of £257 million as part of a vital financial boost from the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund.
