We are proud to announce the Scandinavian premiere of the exhibition “The Great Silence” by artist duo Allora & Calzadilla as this year’s Contempory art program at Heartland Festival.
The American-Cuban collaborative duo Allora & Calzadilla is among the most acclaimed contemporary artists and was widely recognised on an international level when they represented The United States at the Venice Biennale in 2011.
Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla are recognised for their pioneering contribution to both the installation and performance art scene, which often materialises in vivid large scale outdoor art projects always centered around the making of the dissemination of sound.
Their body of work has often been mounted in the question of geopolitical matters with questions concerning the right of property, ownership and the value humans anchor in landscapes and physical places.
The video installation “The Great Silence” showing on Heartland Festival 2018, is an ambitious case on how an art project can reflect not only local challenges but also how we humans understand ourselves and each other as part of the world at large.
The exhibition is supported by The Oticon Foundation, The Beckett Foundation and The Knud Højgaard Foundation.
