Latest Festival Flyer update from Greenbelt

We hear plenty these days about ‘compassion fatigue’. We hear about why we should reduce overseas aid funding. We hear about rich nations not paying the billions they promised to developing nations years ago, that we need to look after ‘our own’ and take back control. But where does this absence of compassion get us? What world does that lead to? As Roman Krznaric, a friend of the festival, has pointed out, we need a revolution in empathy to stop us acting short term and start truly valuing the world we’ll leave behind. Having the compassion to understand how someone else is feeling (and therefore thinking and acting), has the power to change the world. As Elie Wiesel wrote, “The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.”
