Today we pause and look back to our festival communion service at #gb18 – Windrush and Carnival Communion. We livestreamed the service that year and the film is on our Youtube here: https://bit.ly/gb-windrush

In a summer that is likely to lack any carnival gatherings and where many of us are missing our favourite forms of communion, we hope that this memory might give us all the strength to rejoice and resist, no matter the circumstances. Especially in the light of urgent calls and action for racial justice in America and around the world following the murder of George Floyd.

Tomorrow (Monday 22 June) will mark Windrush Memorial Day. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those still wrestling with the mixed blessings and struggles of having been part of the ‘Windrush Generation’. We are grateful for the life, creativity, love and blessing that the Windrush generation and their descendants have brought to this country. We hope and pray that they can all safely and confidently think of, and name, the UK as ‘home’.
