“One of the things about coming out in 1991 was that it untethered me from my spiritual community. I felt shunned and that I could not belong as an openly gay woman. I spent years looking for a church where I wouldn’t be pitied or prayed for, but accepted and welcomed as I was. Eventually (after an alarmingly long time), my wife and I found a church and a vicar who welcomed us with open arms (Dave Tomlinson), and introduced us to Greenbelt. Having a spiritual space where we were actively welcomed did so much to heal the wilderness years. It was like coming home to a new belonging, and I’ll be forever grateful to Greenbelt that.” – Becky Hall
