  4. @747jono says:

    Soen is a great album.
Lots of other black metal and melodic death metal and atmospheric black metal.
Loads from Bandcamp etc and lots from bands own label.
Check out Century-The Conquest Of Time great heavy metal.
    Cheers

  5. Happy New Year Phil.
Im getting fussy in my older age, only bought 3 2023 releases.
    Rory Gallagher. All around man,
    The Long Ryders. September November.
    Burning Witches. The Dark Tower.

  6. Thank you for a great list! Nitrate is a great discovery for me, thanks to you! So great, fun and killergood music, I could hardly belive that there was a new band who sounds like this🤩

  7. I clearly don't listen to enough new music, I don't think I could do a top 5 of 2023 releases! I still got a load of new, to me, CDs last year though … Anyway, happy new year and all the best for 2024.

  8. Phil, if it hasn't already been said, like the music you talk about, you too are the healer. Also, such a nicely varied top 25 with lots of surprises I was not expecting or was aware of. Thank you.

  9. Świetny wybór😊 PozdraWiam z Polski. Robert

  10. I have to congratulate you on selecting Metallica and Soen. Metallica because they get such a negative reaction to all they do and I personally believe they have released a classic album with 72 Seasons. Soen because I never hear anything about them on other channels. Imperial was my favourite album of 2021 and Memorial is almost as good. Nice one Phil.

  11. At last! A list of 2023 albums where I want to listen to most of them. I know three well, so that leaves 23 to go.

I have promised to work my way through Bob Dylan albums I haven't heard, so let's hope there aren't many new albums released in 2024, although I am thoroughly impatient for Ian Hunter's 'Defiance Part II.'

    Thanks, Phil. Great show!

  12. Love seeing your list, Phil. There are a few I missed during the year that I will have to check out. I ike seeing Paul Rodgers on your list. I listened to that one a lot. And it was great to see Soen so high. I am going to see them in May and am very excited for that. All the best for you and the channel in 2024!

  13. Phil great ones. Many in my List too !! What do you think of the new Pattern Seeking Animals ?🤩

  14. Ignition by Streetlight my best of 2023

  15. That Sendelica album that you recommended is great. Nice way to start 2024! I will be busy discovering this band's music throughout the year. Actually, I started the year by reading about the attempted ban by the musician's union on synthesizers and drum machines on Robert Moog's birthday in 1982. Imagine music without these technological wonders.

  16. I always enjoy your thoughts Phil, and this is another terrific video. As for myself I had an indi kind of year in that my fav records were Brain Worms by Australian band RVG, and Principia by French band En Attendant Ana.

  17. @squid4104 says:

Hi Phil. Just listening to your Nitrate and Tempt recs. Impressed! The Nitrate has a REO High Fidelity vibe…I imagine I'm an American college student and all I have to worry about is having fun and girls.. .Happy New Year…

  18. Great show! Plenty of stuff to check out. I'm always on the lookout for music with positivity in message or vibe. Two albums that did that strongly for me this year were Lightbringer from Rival Sons and Wrong Side of Paradise from Black Star Riders. Darkfighter from Rival Sons is also excellent. Would love to see a show somewhere on best positivity albums. Great for the winter doldrums and especially the spring. Below are my tops for 2023.

  24. Great list, Soen was my number 3, with a couple of UK bands pipping them to the post, first being Nothing But Thieves with Dead Club City, they just seem to improve on each album, when was the last time a UK rock band reached number 1 in the album chart, with Gunship with Unicorn at number 2, both groups from different genres but both a bit of fresh air, worth investigating Phil, take care

  26. THis year i thought was a very good year for music in general, there was 2 new bands that came along and ended up being my no2 and no3 album of the year, they were NOSPUN and TEMIC, both in the progmetal department but for debuts were excellent, my no1 was a new band for me but had made 4 other albums, that band is called MOON SAFARI and the album is called HIMLABACKEN VOL2, check out the video for BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND ME and you will get a taste of this BRILLIANT, MELODIC AND THE BEST VOCALS on any album you will EVER hear, my no1 rock album was the ROLLLING STONES, this new album was my 1st ever listen to a stones album, i was very impressed and now have become a fan, better late than never, thanks for all the posts this year and have a great musical year.

Anyway, a very happy and healthy New Year to you Phil and thanks for all you do musically and spiritually.
