Hello Versifyer ! Nightwish fans here, your musical quest summoned us. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing here at Wacken Open Air festival 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of a 82k audience. Also a recent sad news – these days Marco Hietala, the bass player and male singer of the band, announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least – we'll see what the future brings to us. About the instrumental and vocal added parts – it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. As I saw you enjoyed this powerful performance of the band, together with the stellar vocals and charisma of our Dutch metal queen, Floor Jansen. You felt the high energy, the theatrical / cinematic vibe, the epicness. Remembering Loreena McKennitt & Lzzy Hale was a nice touch. Hope you'll continue on this path. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano…..most versatile) – you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol "

The links presented above are with the current singer of the band, Floor Jansen, since I'm a fan of the recent era of the band, with Floor as the singer. I have nothing against previous singers, but I do not consider myself the most suitable person to give specific recommendations from their repertoires. ** I think it's your place, fans of previous Nightwish eras, to present to the reactors the best recommendations with Tarja Turunen and Anette Olzon, because you know and appreciate them directly. I encourage you to add the best recommendations in the comments. ** That being said, I will add here the message left the other days by an old fan of the band, @Fabrizio Gorla: " To be fair to the old fanbase, you may want to include also some of these songs. Just came across your channel and enjoying the Nightwish reactions. Funny that you mentioned Loreena McKennitt; I'm reminded of Loreena when I listen to some of the songs on their latest album, Human|Nature! Floor's still in her own class!
Amy Lee is not in the same universe as FLOOR JANSEN. When was the last thing Amy recorded, or recorded for her fans on a private youtube channel. Oh yea Floor has been singing a lot longer than Amy, and is classically trained and is rated as the best and most versatile singer in the world. As to vocal effects there are none, all the vibrato is created by her voice. She is the Queen
Amy, no Floor Jansen is the Queen of symphonic metal en she nails every song and you will chanche your opinion by saying she's like Amy. You have to listen this whole Wacken concert and you will be blown away. Greetings from the Netherlands 🎶🤟🎶🤟
I like Amy Lee, recently thx to yt cooperation with wagakki band, and i hate those comments critisaizing creactors who just mentions her. There is nice acoutic version of song with just Floor and one acoustic guitar called Hows the heart (planet rock radio) or try Floor Jansen – Shallow
Here vocals ??? …see the covers of Floor of ALONE ( by Heart ) or Adagio ( by Lara Fabian ) ..recent homerecordings during the lockdown … bij the anazing Dutch Floor Jansen ! …enjoy !
Hey Dude!! I'm a 59 yo SWM, former Rock Singer from the 80-90s. I found Nightwish this past summer on YT. I'm Now a Huge Fan! I've Seen almost 400 Reactors for this song……. YOU My Man, are the First that "Gets ALL the Fine Points"!! Nobody has mentioned how her Hand Gestures Play a Big Part of Conveying the Emotions that she is Singing! Plus, I like your Knowledge of the Musical Structures and Timing involved, FYI, the Orchestral Backgrounds are actually recordings by the London Philharmonic and Boys Choir! ( Look for a comment by "Gabriel Barduc", he is the Nightwish "Info Master"!!!) Also, a few reactors have Seen the guy Lick his hand and wipe his eyes…. some say, "You Know This was Before Covid…. others thought he was wiping away Tears of Joy"…. Actually, it was Dusty there and he just needed to Clear his Vision a bit. I found YOU on your Floor/Beste Zangers "Shallow" reaction, then came Here, to see your Previous Videos. I'm Not a Rap/R&B fan, but if your other NW reactions are as Genuine as This one, I'll become a SUB!!! (Please do more Rock Reactions! I'm SURE You will Like>>> RUSH, Guitarists Joe Satriani & Steve Vai and Young Female Vocalist Angelina Jordan!)
I DO know Loreena McKennitt. (& I DO love Amy Lee's voice. <3 ) 1st visit to your channel, & I'm pleasantly surprised & impressed. 🙂 (& Floor is THE one! 😉 😛 ) "her gesturing"?I.e., "stage presence". Yeah, Floor's been singing professionally since she was 16 (After Forever – 1996-2010). 32 in this video. (As I have said elsewhere) She doesn't just sing it – she lives it, every song, every time . 🙂 The audience gets their $'s worth/her all, every time.
Very nice. Despite living close to Wacken, Germany, where the biggest Metal Festival of the Universe is taking place, I don't consider myself as a metal fan. However, I attended it three times and I have to admit, that these fans are top list. Besides the great show and of course the singer Floor Jansen – to hear the crowd appreciating the last note with cheering because they recogniced how effortless and gooood that was gives me goosebumps again and made even Floor happily smiling. And not to forget: the artists are actually seeing the crowd, not just a wall of Iphones, filming them for a crappy Youtube-Video like most Pop-Crowds do. They are just appreciating the music, the art and the moment of epicness. Just great!
