Namperumal makes his annual trip to Uraiyur Divyadesam across the River Cauvery to visit Kamalavalli Nachiyar.
Mattayadi uthsavam followed by Sethi sevai is a drama created by Lord Ranganatha and Ranganayaki Thayar through a personal and healthy debate to highlight the importance of solving the most challenging of issues within a family.
This historic annual event dating back to the period of the origins of Araiyars was re-enacted on the occasion of Panguni Uthiram at the Thayar Sannidhi of the Ranganathaswamy temple in Srirangam.
Ranganayaki Thayar was furious. She had heard from her sources about Lord Ranganatha’s secret trip to Woraiyur, earlier that week, to meet his beloved Kamalavalli Nachiyar. To add fuel to fire, her sources also told her that he had presented a ring at Woraiyur.
Clearly she was upset and was waiting for an chance to express her disapproval of his trip. And the chance presented itself on the morning of Panguni Uthiram when Lord Ranganatha came to meet her.
As he tried to make a hurried entry into her Sannidhi , she shut the door. Shortly after, as he tried to make a re-entry, a fuming Thayar directed her representatives to pelt the Lord and his representatives with butter.
This led to debate inside the Thayar Sannidhi with Araiyar representing Lord Ranganatha trying their best to defend the Lord and his actions and the Pandaris representing Ranganayaki Thayar is one of the highlights of the festival.
Panguni Uthiram is the only day in the year when the divine couple of Srirangam come together.
Ramanuja composed Gadhya Thraya( Sriranga Ghadhyam, Saranagathi Ghadhyam, Vaikunta Ghadhyam) on Panguni Uthiram in front of the Serthi Mandapam. (Title slokam, Sriranga Ghadhyam by MS)

என்ன இனிமையான தெயவீகமான குரல்' ஆம் ஆரம்பமே இனிமை .ஸ்ரீரங்க மங்கள நிதிம் ….. ஆஹா எம்.எஸ். அம்மா என்றும் நம்முடனே இருக்கிறார். அரங்க பக்தி இழையோடு பாடிய அக்குரலுக்குரியவர்க்கு ரங்கநாயகி ஸமேத அரங்க நாதனின் அருள் பெற்று இன்புறட்டும். மிகவும் அருமையக அரங்கனின் மீதுள்ள ஈடு பாட்டினை எவ்வளவு அழகாக வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது. மடை திறந்தது போல் கொட்டிய அருமையான சேர்த்தி சேவை வைபவம். பன்முறை கேட்டுப் பரவசம் பெற்றோம். இன்னும் கேட்கத் தோன்றுகிறதே. அரங்கேறிய விழாவில் பங்கேற்று பரமாத்மா, ஜீவாத்மா – தத்துவத்தை அறியப்பெற்றோம். மிகச் சிறப்பான பக்திப் பதிவு.
ஆஹா மிக அருமை. சேர்த்தி சேவை செவிக்கு விருந்து. அபாரமான வர்ணனை. ஊடல் உணர்வை உருக்கமாக இத்தனை உன்னதமாக உலகுக்கு உணர்த்த உங்களால் மட்டுமே முடியும். ஏனெனில் அந்த மண்ணின் மேல் உங்களுக்கு உள்ள காதல் உத்தமமானது. குரலில் ஆழ்கடலின் அமைதி. அழகிய மணவாளர். நம்மாழ்வார் இருவரும் இணைந்து இதை கேட்டால் எவ்வளவு சந்தோஷப்படுவார்கள்? படை திறந்த வெள்ளம். முழு நீளப்படம் பார்த்த நிறைவு. நன்றி

தாயார் தன் பக்கத்து நியாயத்தை எடுத்துச் சொல்லுவதைக் கேட்கும் போது நெஞ்சுருகி கண்களை நிறத்தது நிஜம் ! அண்ட சராசரத்தின் நாயகன் , மட்டையடிபட்டு தள்ளாடி நிற்பதைக்கேட்க பாவமே ! பரந்தாமா ! உனக்கா இந்நிலை என்று தோன்றுகிறது ! அடுத்த கணம் கூசாமல் பொய்யுரைத்து நாயகியே சேர நினைக்கும் ககள்ளக் கண்ணனை நினைக்கும் போது தாமோதரனாய் யசோதை அன்று ஆக்கியது சரியே எனத் தோன்றுகிறது . இப்படி இன்னும் எத்தனையோ சொல்லலாம்
இந்த சில நிமிட அமிழ்த சொட்டுகளை பாராட்ட ! சொல்லின் செல்வியே ! என்றென்றும் இதே சொல்லாற்றல் ,குரல்வளம். அரங்க நாயக நாயகியின் ஆசி ஆகியவற்றுடன் நீடூழி வாழ வாழ்த்தும் தங்கள் ரசிகை .
