Festival 1994
The two evening celebrations of the Verve label’s 50th birthday are the highlights of the Festival’s 28th edition – one that attracts more than 120,000 people. The Stravinski virbrates to the sound of Bob Dylan, Dwight Yoakam, Johnny Copeland, Marcus Miller, Miguel BosΓ©, Natalie Cole, Noa, John Scofield with Pat Metheny, Wynton Marsalis, Rory Gallager and Joshua Redman. The great dames of Jazz, Betty Carter, Shirley Horn and Helen Merrill, delight the audience as does a trio composed of Stanley Clarke, Al Di Meola and Jean-Luc Ponty. Paul Rodgers gives a unique concert, backed by Steve Lukather, Brian May, Luther Allison and… Claude Nobs ! For its inaugural year, the Miles Davis Hall proposes Charlie Haden, Meshell Ndegeocello, Joe Lovano, Irma Thomas, Tania Maria, Willy Deville as well as Ray Bryant’s and Randy Weston’s renewed get-together.
