At the closing concert of the Lucerne Festival 2010, the Wiener Philharmoniker performed Maurice Ravel’s probably most famous piece of music under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel: Boléro.

The concert was broadcast live in more than 50 cinemas in Europe on 18 September 2010.

  24. Normalerweise kommentiere ich die Musikvideos nicht. Aber in dem Fall hat mich die Intonation von den Holzbläsern ab der 10:31 min. bis 11:19 sehr überrascht. Ziemlich schief! Die phrasieren auch unterschiedlich und klingt deswegen (bei allem Respekt für die hervorragenden Instrumentalisten) wie eine gewöhnliche Blaskapelle. Die Flöten (und Piccolo-Flöten) sind zu hoch, die Klarinetten und Oboen zu tief. Der Trommelklang stört auch die Intonation, man kann die Trommel immer ein bißchen abdämpfen. Ich weiß, es ist ein Konzert aus dem Jahr 2010, trotzdem interessant jetzt zu kommentieren. Wenn man unterschiedlich phrasiert, wird das Resultat eben nicht optimal.

    Oh man, I can't stand this masterpiece, the drums stress me out….. even when I know the drummer won't be making a mistake my mind thinks he will and I panic
