Luke Evan sings ‘I Vow To Thee My Country’ by Gustav Holst at the Royal British Legion ‘Festival of Remembrance’ on 12 November 2022.
The words were written as a poem by Sir Cecil Spring Rice and later set to music by Holst, in an adaptation from his ‘Jupiter’ in The Planets suite.

This is who the government kidnapped me from. It was my dad he just showed up and you arrested the wrong guy. That’s why is is pissed off for and witness them point at my back. That’s why the cop did it in Vegas for. That kept sending him the wrong kids. Then Ellie is the one who kidnapped me and made my dad a ransom to get me back. That why my dad should have kept me in phonix I wasn’t suppose to go back my eye color in so he wouldn’t reconize me.

This hymn never fails to bring tears to my eyes. Such fine poetry and the simple nobility of the setting to music by Holst.
