Rounding out Karaoke Night at this year’s Solid Sound Festival Wilco brought on “Courtney from Melbourne” to join them singing Handshake Drugs from their 2004 album A Ghost Is Born. She made it her own. One of the highlights of the whole festival.

  3. Dan Becker says:

I love this performance. Early on, Jeff and the band are looking on smiling and saying "this is great!" And the band craziness kicks in, and everyone goes crazy!

  4. Her speak-sing works so well with this song. And even her slack harmonies with Jeff. Love this.

  5. This is to all the old fucks (I am 58) who complain about no good music these days…..

  6. He Vi says:

    Reach out to Eben, please

  7. FMB TTV says:

this is the song I would've wanted to sing for Wilco karaoke, Courtney's great

  8. gr8fulpete says:

The best part was Courtney looking for effects for her guitar. Jeff was explaining the pedals — when he said "and that one is fuzz," she was basically like "we're good to go then."

  9. She's such a f*ckin badass

  10. I was chewin' gum for something to do
The blinds were being pulled down on the dew
Inside, out of love, what a laugh
    I was looking for you

    Saxophones started blowing me down
    I was buried in sound
    Taxicabs were driving me around
To the handshake drugs I bought downtown
To the handshake drugs I bought downtown

They were translated poorly, I felt like a clown
I looked like someone I used to know
    I felt alright
And if I ever was myself
    I wasn't that night

Oh it's okay for you to say
    What you want from me
    I believe that's the only
Way for me to be, exactly
What you want me to be

Oh it's okay for you to say
    What you want from me
    I believe that's the only
    Way for me to be
Exactly what you want me to be
