Construction of Charangos designed by Amado Espinoza. Amado has made modifications to the conventional Bolivian charango for a more ergonomic design, comfortable playing position, and acoustic clarity. It is one note lower, with a 42cm fingerboard. Materials: Jacaranda wood, ebony, pine, mother of pearl, metal tuning pegs. Internal pick-up for amplification.
In collaboration with Alberto Torrico, Master Charango Luthier for over 25 years, winner of the Charango d’Oro in the Festival de Aiquile, Bolivia, in multiple years.
This video demonstrates highlights of the artisanal process in Master Torrico’s workshop in Cochabamba, Bolivia, in 2019.
