
Beethoven: The Grand Festival 2020
in collaboration with The Grand Signature Piano
Join us as we celebrate the music of Ludwig van Beethoven on his 250th anniversary as well as other composers in this year’s festival, featuring artists from all over the world. We at Indonesia International Piano Competition believes in the power of music to inspire humanity in people and build communities.
Recent graduate from University of British Columbia in piano performance, Ayunia Indri Saputro was awarded the Marnie Carter Music Scholarship and Robert Rogers Prize in Piano. Her teachers include Mrs. Anna Sulastri, Mrs. Rosalinawati Iman, Dr. Johannes Sebastian Nugroho, Prof. Mark Anderson, Dr. Terence Dawson, Dr. Patricia Hoy, and Prof. Rena Sharon. She will be joining University of Michigan’s dual degree program in Piano Performance & Pedagogy in Fall 2021.
Ayunia had participated in various concerts and music festivals. Some highlights include A Classical Soiree – The Inaugural Concert 2013 in Jakarta, Dulwich International Music Academy Festival 2014 in Beijing, and Jakarta New Year Concert ‘Opera Highlights’ in 2016. In August 2016, she had the honor to perform at the residence of Indonesia’s third President, Prof. Dr. H. B.J. Habibie. In September 2018, Ayunia performed Mozart Piano Concerto no. 27 with UBC Symphony Orchestra at the Chan Centre of the Performing Arts, Vancouver, Canada. Recently, she has been invited to perform Ananda Sukarlan’s Rapsodia Nusantara no. 6 & 8 at ‘Tjanting Funweek: Batik for World Piece’ in New York. She has performed with singers and instrumentalists in recital and competition and considers collaborative partnership as a vibrant element of her professional career. Ayunia’s recent collaborations includes IndUniverse Collaboration Concert in August 2019 and Majapahit: The Birth of Nusantara concert in October 2020.
Her passion in music has also brought her into several accomplishments in piano competitions. She is one of the first prize winners in Ananda Sukarlan Award International Piano Competition in 2016 and the third prize in Silverman Piano Concerto Competition, Canada in 2018. She has just recently been awarded the silver prize in WPTA Singapore International Piano Competition. Her trio collaboration with colleagues clarinetist Carlos Savall Guardiola and cellist Jiwon Susie Yoo was awarded the Audience Prize and third overall prize at the 2019 Friends of Chamber Music Competition in Vancouver.
Ayunia has completed her London College of Music and ABRSM Royal Diploma examination in piano performance and performed in the High Scorers’ Concert for both examinations. She has participated in masterclasses and private lessons with many renowned pianists internationally, including Ananda Sukarlan, Mario Santoso, Eduardus Halim, Bruce Brubaker, Sara Davis Buechner, Barry Snyder, Douglas Finch, Ilana Vered, and Angela Hewitt.
Her equal passion in both performance and pedagogy motivates her to share the enjoyment in learning and making music to young pianists, especially in her beloved hometown, Surabaya.
