Kendal Calling 2026 at Lowther Deer Park (Lake District) – it’s sold out, but you might get lucky here…
Get your wellies (although hopefully you won’t need them), your best fancy dress, and your vocal cords ready—the Lake District’s biggest party is back.
Kendal Calling is rolling out the red carpet at Lowther Deer Park from July 30th to August 2nd, 2026, and to celebrate its massive 21st anniversary, it’s pulling out all the stops. If you thought previous years were huge, this year’s “Back To The Movies!” theme promises to turn the Cumbrian countryside into a full-blown cinematic blockbuster.
Whether you’re a seasoned Kendal Caller or a first-timer popping your festival cherry, here is your essential preview of what’s going down in the fields.
Kendal Calling has never skimped on its guitar-driven roots, and 2026’s roster is a bag-full of riches.
For the early-bird arrivals, The Kooks are kicking things off on Thursday night, backed by Wakefield’s finest, The Cribs. But the Friday-to-Sunday main events are where things get truly colossal. Biffy Clyro are set to deliver the kind of shirtless, stadium-sized, riff-heavy catharsis that only the Scottish trio can provide. They’re joined at the top of the bill by Wolf Alice, ready to weave their spellbinding grunge-pop, and Two Door Cinema Club, who are turning back the clock to play their era-defining Tourist History album in full.
The undercard is basically a who’s-who of indie sleaze and modern British guitar bands. Expect chaotic brilliance from The Libertines, pure unadulterated joy from Scissor Sisters, and singalong anthems from The Vaccines.
Northern powerhouse acts like Doves, Jamie Webster, and The Lathums will keep the crowd moving, while heavier, darker thrills come courtesy of Witch Fever.
The theme for 2026 is Back To The Movies! Kendal Calling is transforming the Deer Park into Hollywood-on-the-Lakes.
Sunday is the legendary fancy dress day, so if you don’t have a costume sorted yet, get on it. Whether you’re turning up as Darth Vader, Elphaba, Barbie, or Indiana Jones, the Saturday Parade is an unmissable cascade of roaming performers and festival-goers bringing the cinematic magic to life. Want to literally watch a movie? Take a breather at The Picturehouse, an actual cinema in a field showing absolute classics all weekend.
If you only hang around the main stage, you’re doing Kendal wrong. The true magic of this festival happens in the weird and wonderful corners of the site:
Tim Peaks Diner: The brainchild of The Charlatans’ frontman Tim Burgess. Grab a damn fine cup of Yorkshire tea or coffee and keep your eyes peeled. This log cabin is notorious for unannounced, secret sets. In the past, everyone from The Libertines to Blossoms have rocked up for sweat-drenched, intimate performances.
Lost Eden: As the sun goes down, head into the woodlands. Lost Eden is an immersive, glowing world of interactive art installations and underground music—perfect for losing yourself in the moment.
Chai Wallahs: A legendary touring tent bringing the best global beats—afrobeat, funk, reggae, and hip-hop. It’s right next door to the real ale tent, which means you’re in prime position to grab a pint of exclusive Lancaster Brewery ‘Kend’ale’ and dance until the early hours.
The Garden of Eden: Hungover? Need to realign your chakras after headbanging to Biffy Clyro? This is your sanctuary for yoga, massages, and some much-needed serenity before you get back out and do it all again.
Kendal Calling 2026 is shaping up to be an absolute monster of a weekend. With an incredibly stacked indie-rock lineup, unhinged secret sets, and a blockbuster theme, it’s exactly the kind of chaotic, joyful escapism we need this summer.
Grab a pint of Kend’ale, memorize the lyrics to Tourist History, and we’ll see you in the fields.
