Ghent-based duo Charlotte Adigéry and long-term musical partner Bolis Pupul broke out with their 2019 Zandoli EP and haven’t stopped ever since. Exploring themes such as cultural appropriation, racism, and social media vanity, they are ripping up the dancefloor rulebook. 2022’s debut Topical Dancer expands their worldview further outwards, with songs like “Hey” questioning the shallowness of ‘wokeness’ and searchings for a utopia of “equality, harmony and integrity”. These are undoubtedly hard-hitting subjects, but mischief is crucial to Charlotte and Bolis’s musical alchemy. Their sense of humour, unparalleled chemistry, and a mix of deadpan vocals, buoyant beats, and abstract melodies create a surreal and unforgettable show.
