Thumper: From Dublin to the World
Dublin psych-pop six-piece Thumper have had a meteoric rise. Just 20 months ago, they were rocking out to small crowds at home. Now, they’re headlining shows, packing out festivals, and even sharing the stage with Kasabian. It’s been a whirlwind.
With two drummers and four guitarists, these guys make a noise that’s as big as their ambitions. Their debut album, *Delusions of Grandeur*, is a psychedelic monster of a record, mixing crunching guitars with sugary melodies. It was so good it got them a nod for Irish Album of the Year, putting them in the company of some serious music heavyweights.
From Reading and Leeds to Mad Cool, Thumper have been tearing up stages across Europe. They’ve also had plenty of love from the radio, with BBC 6 Music, Radio 1, and KEXP all giving them airplay. And if that wasn’t enough, they’ve even popped up on the telly, wowing audiences on the Tommy Tiernan Show and Other Voices.
After selling out Dublin’s legendary Button Factory, Thumper are now locked in the studio, cooking up their next album. If their debut is anything to go by, we’re in for another sonic treat.
