There are many unique & unknown festivals and events that are celebrated only in Odisha. In Odia, we have a saying – “Bara masa re tera parba”, which translates to 13 festivals in 12 months.
One such festival is the historic [Khandagiri Kumbha Mela](https://hangoutpeople.com/festival-of-odisha-khandagiri-kumbh-mela/).
Khandagiri Mela is a popular festival of Odisha that happens every year. This year, it is starting from 12th Feb 2019. The festival begins on the day of ‘Magha Saptami’ every year, the seventh day of lunar month of Magha as per Hindu calendar (English month – January or February) nowadays the mela is held at the foothills of the historic Khandagiri-Udaygiri hills. The congregation of people in large numbers from across the city and its outskirts turned the area into a festive zone.
