Our super-snapper does it again with these great shots of ĠENN from Rockaway Beach 2024
Leona’s voice and vocal stylings coupled with the band’s heavy riffs and angry drums put the Anglo-Maltese band, GENN, into a world populated by Kate Bush, Souisxie Sioux, and the kind of metal bands who are most at home on the main stage at Download.
You’ll see GENN catalogued as art-punk, and that’s probably about right, but look out for all the other influences that weave through their musical layers.
Although Leona doesn’t know what year it is (as she plugs the band’s latest album as coming out this year, rather than 2023) she puts this down to having just come back from a religious retreat, which has cleansed her soul, but left her lost in time. And one thing is for sure… she has a genuinely beautiful voice that binds spells and tells compelling tales.
