Nile Rodgers & Chic: A Disco Masterclass at Latitude
Let’s be real, when Nile Rodgers and Chic are on the bill, you know you’re in for a good time. And their Latitude set? Pure disco gold. The moment those first funky chords hit, the whole crowd was instantly transported back to Studio 54, even if we weren’t old enough to be there.
Rodgers is a legend for a reason. His energy is infectious, and he’s got that rare ability to make everyone feel like they’re the main character in a disco movie. The band were tight, the horns were sassy, and the rhythm section was pure groove.
Songs like “Good Times” and “Le Freak” were, of course, absolute anthems, but it was the way they mixed them up with newer stuff that really impressed me. They managed to keep things fresh while still giving us all the classic hits we craved. Plus, Rodgers’ guitar playing is just insane. That guy could make a washing machine sound funky.
If you weren’t dancing your socks off at that show, you were probably dead inside. It was one of those sets where you didn’t care who you were dancing with or how silly you looked. It was all about losing yourself in the music. So yeah, Nile Rodgers and Chic absolutely killed it at Latitude. They’re living legends for a reason.
