Hastings loves a festival – at the last count there are some 50 events in and around the area every year, and Pride is a real highlight of the local calendar.
Generally held on the August Bank holiday weekend, there is a giant parade that meanders from The Stade open space in Old Town up to The Oval on Bohemia Road – followed by an afternoon and evening of music and cabaret that offers family fun as well as more ‘adult’ entertainment later on.
This year’s Pride celebration was a vintage one, with (almost) perfect weather, and a great line-up of talent – from ‘Things Can Only Get Better’ legends D:Ream, through to a host of local stars including Festival Flyer favourites Buddha Triangle.
The event brought a real buzz to the whole town, and pubs and bars did a roaring trade as the party spirit flowed out of the festival arena throughout the day.
We had Sara-Louise Bowrey on hand to capture the festival in all its glorious rainbow colours…
