Whether it’s the toll climate change is already taking on some of the poorest people in the world, or the motivating reason we partner Palestinian music festivals, fighting for social justice is a huge part of why Greenbelt exists.
But we never lose sight of the fact that we’re a festival. So we face up to and fight against existential threats like climate change and modern slavery – and all the suffering that comes with those issues. But we also laugh ourselves silly at terrible puns and throw our arms around strangers to bellow hymns or share bread and wine. We know that this life is a wonderful gift that we celebrate together, and the festival is one of the guaranteed places where this celebration happens for four days every year.
