When Patience Agbabi first came to Greenbelt way back in 2014 we were blown away by the persuasive passion of her poetry and prose. Especially as her writing seemed always to give voice to those most often unheard. Most notably refugees. Having reworked Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales for a modern age in her ‘Telling Tales’ work, Patience showed us what a distinctive and compelling writer she was.
A restless and rebellious soul, she works in and from the margins, seeking to spotlight the stories of those she finds there. In recent years she’s even turned her hand to children’s fiction with ‘The Time Thief’ and ‘The Infinite’. So, here’s to a mercurial, maverick writing talent.
