We wanted to take a moment to salute the mothership of all festivals, back once again this week with the renegade master himself, Michael Eavis. It’s so wonderful to see people able to come together in the fields of Glastonbury again, isn’t it?
Being free of sponsorship, founded by chapel folk, with some proceeds going to charity and the best part of five decades on the clock – it’s no wonder our own (much, much smaller) shindig has always felt a kinship with the one that sets the bar for them all here in the UK.
A few years ago we were lucky enough to be paid a visit by Michael (nowadays letting the magnificent Emily Eavis and her team take the strain) to talk festivals, God, dairy herds and fallow years (when that was a thing you did out of choice rather than pandemic necessity). And much more.
