The next friend and hero that we’d like to highlight for #BlackHistoryMonth is Jarel Robinson-Brown.

Jarel both serves in the Church of England as an Assistant Curate, at the same time as calling out for it to do better when it comes to accepting LGBTQ+ and black bodies. His book ‘Black, Gay, British, Christian, Queer: The Church and the Famine of Grace’ seeks to remind the Church of those who often find themselves beyond its embrace, continuing to suffer from what he calls the longstanding ‘terrorism’ of the Christian community – through both its speech and its silence.

His twitter feed is also brilliant; well worth a follow.
