Lynne Segal is a delightfully old-school lefty feminist academic – but someone who is still thinking and writing astonishingly helpful and liberative things about life, love and politics. Now lecturing in Psychosocial Studies at Birkbeck, her latest book – and the reason for us inviting her this year – is “Radical Happiness: Moments of Collective Joy”. In it, Lynne explores the importance of a politics of hope for times like this. Not least, as a Jew, she is passionate about peace in Israel-Palestine and has written on Resistance as Survival to mark the 70th anniversary of the Nakba (catastrophe for the Palestinians) and founding of the State of Israel.
