Greenbelt turns 50 next year. It’s a landmark moment that offers us a chance to reflect, take stock and glimpse the future ahead. So, in 2023 we’ll be making two changes that we’re excited to tell you about.

🎟️ No tiers before bedtime
Every festival is wrestling with soaring production costs at the moment. One simple answer is to pass those costs on – and whack up 2023 ticket prices. The problem we have with that is that it doesn’t feel very…Greenbelt.

So, for 2023 we’re scrapping our tiered ticket deadlines ****and replacing them with three main price-points for adult tickets (along with our usual concessions and under-18s tickets, of course). We’re calling these three tickets: ‘**Supported’, ‘Standard’ and ‘Supporter’**. And you’re completely free to decide which option best suits you, depending on your own circumstances.

We’re hoping this experiment works and that we can keep these three ticket prices all year. So, no tiers, deadlines or earlybird tickets for 2023. Book now and you can pay in 10x monthly interest-free instalments up to July 2023. That’s just £19 per month for a ‘Standard’ ticket price.

📅 When we come together
The other change we’re making is that we’re going to time-shift the festival, moving it forward by 24 hours. We’ll gather in the fields during a relaxed Thursday (instead of Friday), with an evening of community-led programming, with caterers and a bar in the campsite open for those who want them. It’ll be a day to reunite, rewind and reconnect with one another.

Then the festival programme will kick off at Friday midday (for a much fuller Friday) and build to a climax on Sunday night, before we all head home again on Monday (instead of Tuesday).

If the first ticketing structure change is all about ensuring that we stay as affordable to as many as possible, then this second change ensures that we can squeeze every single buck to get the maximum bang – delivering the best possible festival programme and experience for all those at Greenbelt, from the very beginning to very end.

  1. Beverley when we booking

  2. Would be grest to go back to Odell where GB started but doubt the field would be big enough. Went a few times there.

  3. I don’t understand the maths, surely they turn 50 in 2024? Or do you mean it’s the 50th GB, except only if you include the online one and Prospect Farm…

  4. Loved my first Greenbelt #gb22
    I am sure I will love #gb23
Thanks for all you do to make it an amazing experience!

  5. Sounds wonderful! Sign me up.

  6. I think this will really well. Loved Prospect Fafm so the idea of a Thursday with that vibe is great, as is a fuller Friday. And it always feels a bit sad when the campsite empties at Monday lunchtime so I love the idea of people all staying to the end and Monday being the travelling day.

  7. I went to GB from 83 to 91 then moved to the States. May just need to try and wrangle in a trip to the UK next August!

Just as long as everything keeps going till the end of the Sunday. We always stay till Tuesday morning but it so depressing that the stalls and many venues start dismantling early Monday evening. Even the bins near our bit of the campsite were taken away on Monday morning!

  9. First GB was the ATF, Cliff R, Larry N guesting with Randy in 79. Probably did all or part of another 25 upto 2013. Life changed not been since but a 50th party could be tempting. A best of the main stage, although that would probably mean everyone is over 60!

  10. Bec Baran says:

Curious when it’s expected the rest of the traders will be starting, than just caterers. To be able to wander around the stalls without pressures of timetables seems beneficial. Otherwise the traders lose essentially an entire day of trading. It would be useful to know.

  11. The Duke of Buccleuch owns the land we play on. He is also (we understand) owns the land that is being sold off for yet more warehouses in Kettering. As a local doggie walker we adore weekley woods and can’t bare the thought that they won’t be around any longer. In this space we’ve seen deer, rabbits, various wildlife and so many birds! Pls God don’t let this be torn down. It feels impossible. We’ve protested, shut up, ignored. Pls get behind this. I’m no saint. Not a massive activist but this hurts. If you stopped by my stall you’ll have seen me selling Body Shop goodies at GB so you know I’m just a chubby housewife lass from Kettering doing her best – can we try and make any change? Pete Bultitude

  12. Phil Thornton the other changes….

  13. Great to have supporter tickets, but I believe they’re too cheap! Should be a way to denote more money for those who can afford it: options of £3, £5 or £10 are too little. What about £25, £50 or £100?

Also, does anyone know if the shortage of volunteers is because of the cost of living crisis, making travelling to the festival too expensive? It would be great to have a fund that helps volunteers travel to the festival and covers extra costs not covered by vouchers. If we need to employ people to do stewarding or security, why don’t we pay Greenbelt volunteers suffering due to the Tories economy incompetence?

  14. Sounds good. Any details on when bands apply?

  15. It has been the cost that has put me off going the last few years.
