Black Lives Matter: Is the church complicit?

Latest Festival Flyer update from Greenbelt

[ad_1]

We’re really thrilled and privileged to be able to stream a transatlantic conversation between black faith leaders, writers, thinkers and activists on both sides of the pond – curated and hosted by Greenbelt trustee, Chine McDonald. Here’s what Chine says about the conversation …

Martin Luther King famously once said: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Stirred by the injustice of George Floyd’s killing in the US, churches and faith leaders in this country have been moved to action along with thousands of protestors here and abroad.

But what role have churches on both sides of the Atlantic played in fuelling the notion of white supremacy throughout the centuries?

And how can we learn from those churches who instead were at the forefront of black liberation and the civil rights movement?

Join leaders, thinkers and theologians from the US and the UK tonight for a fascinating, enlightening transatlantic conversation on race.

The conversationalists:
Professor Anthony Reddie
Selina Stone
Jemar Tisby
Dante Stewart
Chine McDonald
