Although Mukti Mitchell doesn’t use explicitly the ‘G-Word’ in his talk on simpler living here, the whole thrust of his argument is nevertheless about living more generously. He questions whether our technological progress and mass consumption has really led us to a place of plenty or whether it has instead hindered the very things that generate a generosity of spirit and well-being in our lives. This Christmas time, it’s good to be reminded that time to spend with those we love and time to listen to our lives is one of the most precious gifts we can be given; that the simpler pleasures almost always lead to a sense of plenty, richness and generosity.
