About

WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance) was founded by Peter Gabriel and friends, and the first festival was held at Shepton Mallet in 1982. The UK festival has been at Charlton Park, near Malmesbury in Wiltshire, since 2007, and there are WOMAD events around the world.

Music comes from every continent, on open-air stages, in a big top and among the trees, with workshops, a big children's area and the Taste the World stage, where musicians cook dishes from home. It's an easygoing, family-friendly weekend with an older crowd than most, and a good place to hear something you've never heard before.
