About
Notting Hill Carnival has taken over the streets of west London every August bank holiday since 1966. It grew from the Caribbean carnival events that Claudia Jones organised in the late 1950s, and is now one of the biggest street festivals in the world.
Sunday is the family day, with the children's parade, and Monday the main parade of mas bands, steel bands and soca trucks. Sound systems play reggae, dancehall, soca and more on street corners all weekend, with food stalls everywhere.
