About

FĂȘte de la Musique takes place every year on 21 June, the longest day. It was started in France in 1982 by the culture minister Jack Lang and Maurice Fleuret, and has since spread to cities in many countries.

The idea is simple: free music in the streets, squares, bars and parks, played by amateurs and professionals alike. Anyone can play, and every style turns up.
