ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag) is held in Groningen in mid-January, and has been going since 1986. It's the main showcase festival for new European music.
Hundreds of acts play the city's venues, with a music industry conference alongside, and a lot of them go on to play the summer festivals. Eurosonic focuses on European acts, while Noorderslag, on the final night, is the big showcase for Dutch music.
