Thank you so much for posting this. I was there but lost all my pictures in a fire many years ago. I’ve been going through a reconnection phase with the band thanks to their Sirius channel so seeing this show again in its entirety was just the icing on the cake. Wow, what a blast from the past!
Imagine these musicians were about 23. Behold Adam's extreme coolness factor and strong bassline going on plus each of the other performers' excellence. So much hard work as well as talent on full display.

Bono climbed the scaffolding during that show, first show for this event, at noon. That day ended with The Clash's final performance. I heard Edge and Bono echoing through the air as we negotiated the crwowd that day, toward the stage, of 67k people, the energy was palplable as we walked in. 'Who the fuck is this?" I said to Marc and Adele. Three days $25/day, ended Sunday with David Bowie…so glad we did. Adele thank your Mom give a big hug, if you can again…thanks for posting, remastered indeed. This is raw U2 the freshness is best. Mmmm. Talk about attitude, prophetic comment. U2 has been here a long time. Thankfully, such a gift to US all. Support your local artists folks. PS I was still far out from stage, Id thought he'd climbed, till now. I love this…it's hitting me hard. Missing the way it was. FYI The Ploce did not play here they played in LA though, making more $, it changed after that. As Chrissy said, Kudos to the bands that decided to be there for US. It was dry and hot, gauntlets of spraying water helped. Forget the beer lines, two I swigged down in an instant, free water, temperature in the 90's. US logo paper tabs helped. Homer Simpson once called, "The concert time forgot> No more…this remastered material tops, its about effen time. So much more to this…line up is legendary. Friday and Sunday anyway…we chose not to attend the Saturday of metal music. Great to break for a day, hitched to Venice Beach, saw the "Roller Girl", enroute in North Hollywood Hilton saw Telly Savalas, the Lakers and the 76ers arrive in town . Amazing weekend…looking back. Woh he did climb seeing now….four boys "I Will Follow" and I did, have since. Keep on keepin on boys. How long? 40 plus years counting long. Thank you. Be mindul diligent and love one another -beyond your tribe.
Why do I remember Bono standing up for a moment after he climbed to the top of the stage… and the fabric giving way underneath him? IN fact, friends of mine who were there talk about the moment too. It seems the director was focused on either The Edge or the audience when this happened.
I was there for all three days and this was the first time I saw them. They were one of the standouts of the entire festival, and have been a fan ever since. The Tuesday after, I drove down to the LA Sports Arena box office and bought a general admission floor ticket for their show there soon after (which featured, even more, Bono death-defying climbing). If there is a God or Gods of Rock, they were touched by them that day.
At 36:57…..I knew her….and many more just like her. Great memories. The next memory was of a cute number at a Scorpions concert at Irvine Meadows. I loved all of them.
I was VERY scared for Bono when he climbed the scaffolding. Loved this festival. It was so hot! But there were plenty of water cannons. Bowie’s headlining set was AWESOME!
From the days when U2 were one of the best bands on the planet and Bono was a national treasure, before he declared himself president of the universe and became the ultimate preacher. These days, unfortunately, U2 are pure shit and Bono is an international embarassment.
Maybe thats a normal sized or smaller person activity to do, but i give props to bono man he climbed way the hell up there, i wouldnt have even dreamed of doing that myself imao.

It wasn’t a passing thing. This was a special moment. We felt it. Bono could have gotten hurt fer shere. It was memorable.

They sounded just as good as they do on their records. That’s real talent unlike todays artists.
