Festivals and gigs. A listings calendar, plus previews, news, reviews, and photos

“Welcome to a visual journey with the Surabhi Ensemble as we embark on a mission of harmony and artistic exploration. This video encapsulates our remarkable Global Peace Tours over the past five years, showcasing the vibrant cultural tapestries of Vietnam, Spain, Portugal, Senegal, Mexico, and our home base in Chicago.

Through a blend of music, dance, and creative collaboration, we have endeavored to connect diverse communities, to celebrate the richness of global traditions, and to foster an environment of unity and peace. Our journey is not just about performances; it’s about the power of art in bridging cultural divides, even during a global pandemic.

As we prepare for our upcoming venture to India, we invite you to experience the highlights of our global engagements that have shaped our vision. Your support will help us continue this journey, spreading the message of global understanding and peace through the universal language of art.

Join us in our endeavor to unite the world, one note, one step, one song at a time.

After completing successful tours to Vietnam, Spain, Portugal and Senegal in 2019 and Oaxaca, Mexico in 2021, the Surabhi Ensemble has been invited to perform in universities, festivals, research institutes, and facilities for disabled persons in the Indian states of Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, and Goa. Additionally, the Surabhi Ensemble will visit the Prince of Gujarat for a special performance to support LGBQT causes in India. The ensemble has had a special relationship with Instituto Cervantes over the years beginning in 2017 with the presentation of the Andalusian Trail series over two evenings. The Surabhi Ensemble is again excited to work with Instituto Cervantes on the 2024 Chicago Flamenco Festival to present a special program of Andalusian songs and dance along with a prelude to the 2024 Tour of India featuring original and traditional works.

Please Note: The Surabhi Ensemble was given permission to take and use still photos and videos (including images of audiences with families and children) by local municipalities, cultural centers, and social service institutions in the various countries which were visited. In many cases, the collaborative organization used the Surabhi Ensemble concert and workshop appearances to release their own media as a promotional tool to bring awareness to a particular need. The Surabhi Ensemble members were happy to lend their songs, performances and images to these causes.
