Singer-songwriter @ParkerMillsapOfficial performs “Rolling,” a song from his 2021 LP “Be Here Instead.” Millsap says it’s “a little reminder to myself to be patient and kind and gentle with others, because we all know we’re all gonna die, and we’re all dealing with that in different ways.” This session was filmed and recorded live in the bamboo garden at Eastside Manor in Nashville, Tennessee.

About Parker Millsap:
Purcell, Oklahoma native Parker Millsap is quickly making a name for himself with his captivating live performances, soulful sound, and character-driven narratives. He’s had a string of highlights in recent years including his network television debut on CONAN, a performance with Elton John at the Apple Music Festival in London, an Austin City Limits taping and an Americana Music Association nomination for Album of the Year. He has also received praise from The New York Times, The Boston Globe, LA Times, Austin Chronicle and Rolling Stone to name a few.
His fifth and latest album, Be Here Instead emerged from a wild alchemy of instinct, ingenuity, and joyfully determined rule-breaking. In a departure from the guitar-and-notebook-based approach to songwriting that shaped his earlier work, the Nashville-based artist followed his curiosity to countless other modes of expression, experimenting with everything from piano to effects pedals to old-school drum machines (a fascination partly inspired by the early-’70s innovations of Sly Stone and J.J. Cale). As those explorations deepened and broadened his musical vision, Millsap soon arrived at a body of work touched with both unbridled imagination and lucid insight into the search for presence in a chaotic world.

Lyrics:
You’ve got to roll with the punches
You’ve got to roll on a dime
You’ve got to roll if you’re coming with me
Gotta roll out gotta be on time
We got to roll down the highway
Set the cruise control and watch the line
Don’t watch the phone cause were going my way
Rolling on to a better time
We got to roll all together
We got roll if you like it or not
That heavy load would be a feather
If everybody give a little then nobody gotta give a lot
If you’re gonna roll another number
You got to roll the windows down
Or maybe wait ‘til were in the country
We can’t get caught in this little town
Sometimes you roll just like a boulder
Sometimes you roll like a stone instead
If you keep on rolling you’re gonna get older
Roll long enough you roll over dead
So we got to roll all together
We got roll if you like it or not
That heavy load would be a feather
If everybody give a little then nobody gotta give a lot
