Orpheus members represented Bronx Prep to the wider community at the Bronx Borough Arts Festival (an organization that celebrates student achievement and development in the arts) for the third year in a row on May 17, 2019 at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, showcasing their artistic voice in a professional setting.
In addition to undergoing authentic experiential learning through performance exposure outside the walls of our school and gaining a broader worldview, scholars also gained another level of confidence in their artistic abilities by having their hard work externally validated and recognized.
The trip was lots of fun. Tons of delicious food, as well as many indelible moments; among the highlights, a large crowd suddenly started dancing in the mezzanine during the performance! A big shout out to the staff, scholars (current and alumni!) and their families who came to support! We felt the love. The scholars were excited and proud to showcase their talent and represent the school to the wider community on the stage. Orpheus performed my arrangement of La Dueña del Swing.
