Coming to you LIVE from Portland’s Folk Festival at The Crystal Ballroom in Portland, OR. The Parnells played a 25 minute set that included three shortened cover songs, one of which was this – Monkey Wrench by Foo Fighters. They’ve made it their own by starting this traditional rock anthem with driving acoustic and floating female vocals. After building to the chorus, the male vocal then takes over at the bridge, which builds to a victorious statement of freedom, to resolve straight into the final chorus. This courageous cover highlights the duo’s artful arrangement and intentional dynamics.
